Welcome to the Mac/Intel Cluster
Go here to learn how to use the environment.
The little cluster is an attempt to build an infrastructure for programming and running bioinformatics tools. We are making an effort Db_update to provide daily updated sequence databases for everyone in this system in /vol/biodb/. An overview of the ideas behind the /vol/ space is Vol-infrastructure here.
Software Resources
Part of the intent of this infrastructure is to create a rich software environment in which to do our work.
Toward that end, we have installed a shared SEED instance available at http://figfarm.mcs.anl.gov/FIG/index.cgi. This SEED may be used from the command line on any Farm machine by using the usual SEED commands from /vol/seed-anno-mirror. This SEED also has a NMPDR database associated with it and should be able to be used for NMPDR development.
We have also installed per-user SEED sandboxes for our users. These will be in a directory FIGdisk in your home directory. They are available via the web at http://biofiler.mcs.anl.gov/~username/FIG/index.cgi.
Other Information
Some old stuff that used to reside on cave1 and needs clearing up (See the Gendb Overview).
Discussion on this system can take place on the mailing list: dbc-users@mcs.anl.gov.
Currently the following people are responsible for setting this up: Bill Mihalo Bob Olson Folker Meyer
